Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines

What this is

Momentbound is for keeping and sharing personal memories with people you choose. It is not a public social network, and it is not a general file host.

This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone — account holders, library members, and guests using an invite link.

The rule behind all the rules: do not use Momentbound to harm, endanger, deceive, or exploit anyone, and do not upload anything you do not have the right to share.

Never allowed

Content involving children

  • Child sexual abuse material, in any form. We remove it, preserve evidence, terminate the accounts involved, and report it to the authorities. There is no warning and no appeal on this.
  • Sexualised depictions of minors, whether real, drawn, or generated.
  • Content that grooms, solicits, or endangers a child.

Ordinary family photos of children are welcome — that is a core use of the product. The line is sexualisation and endangerment, not the presence of a child.

Intimate imagery

  • Intimate or sexual images of anyone shared without their consent.
  • Threatening to share such images, or using them for coercion or extortion.
  • Recordings made without consent in places where people expect privacy.

Harm to people

  • Threats of violence, and encouraging or celebrating violence.
  • Stalking, harassment, or intimidation.
  • Doxxing — publishing someone's home address, precise location, workplace, phone number, or other identifying details to expose or endanger them.
  • Content promoting self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
  • Attacks on people based on ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or serious disease.

Location deserves specific attention here. Photos carry precise coordinates, and shared albums can expose where someone lives, works, or takes their children. Do not use Momentbound's location or map features to track, expose, or find someone. Where an album's map precision could put someone at risk, we warn the owner — but the responsibility is theirs.

Illegal content and conduct

  • Anything illegal under Norwegian or applicable EEA law.
  • Terrorist or violent extremist content, and material that promotes it.
  • Sale or promotion of weapons, drugs, or other regulated goods.
  • Trafficking or exploitation of people.

Content that is not yours

  • Photos, videos, music, or other material you do not have the rights to.
  • Content containing identifiable people who have not agreed to be shared, where their agreement is required.
  • Trademark infringement, and impersonating a person, brand, or organisation.

Deception and fraud

  • Impersonating someone else.
  • Fraud, scams, phishing, and fake offers.
  • Fake accounts or misrepresenting who you are to gain access to a library.

Attacks on the service

  • Malware, malicious links, or harmful files.
  • Attempting to access accounts, libraries, or media you were not given access to.
  • Guessing, scraping, or enumerating invite codes or share links.
  • Circumventing storage quotas, upload limits, rate limits, or access controls.
  • Automated bulk use that degrades the service for others.
  • Probing or attacking our infrastructure. Security research is welcome — see below.
  • Reselling or redistributing your storage allowance.

Misuse as something it is not

  • Using Momentbound as a general file host, backup service, or content-delivery network for unrelated files.
  • Spam, unsolicited bulk messaging, or advertising through invites, captions, or comments.

If someone breaks these rules

Report it. You do not need an account to report — guests using an invite link can report the content they can see.

  • On a shared page: open a photo or video and use Report, or use Report this album at the bottom of the album page. Comments have their own Report action. You will get a reference code to quote if you contact us later.
  • In the app: open a photo or video and use Report, or use the Report action on a comment.
  • By email: abuse@momentbound.app

Include the link or identifier, what the problem is, and how to reach you. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then tell us.

For copyright holders

Email abuse@momentbound.app with the URL or identifier, a description of the work, your rights in it, your contact details, and a statement that you are acting in good faith.

For security researchers

Report vulnerabilities to security@momentbound.app.

Please do not access other people's data, degrade the service, or publish an unresolved issue. We will review good-faith reports and will not pursue researchers who follow these limits.

What we do about reports

  1. We record and timestamp the report.
  2. We confirm receipt.
  3. We preserve relevant evidence.
  4. We assess it against this policy and the law.
  5. We may restrict access to content, remove it, suspend or terminate accounts, or revoke invite links.
  6. Where appropriate, we tell the uploader what happened and why.
  7. We record the decision and the reason for it.
  8. We escalate credible illegal-content or immediate-safety matters to the authorities.

Severity drives speed. Child safety, non-consensual intimate imagery, and credible threats are acted on immediately. Other matters are assessed in turn.

We may act on content we find ourselves, not only on content that is reported.

Appeals

If we restricted your content or account and you think we were wrong, reply to our message or email abuse@momentbound.app and explain why. We will look again. Decisions on child sexual abuse material are not appealable.

A note on private libraries

Most content on Momentbound is private, shared only among a handful of people. We do not monitor or browse private libraries, and our support team does not look at your media as a matter of routine.

That does not make private libraries exempt from this policy. Where we receive a report, or where we are legally required to act, we will investigate content regardless of how privately it was shared.

Changes

We will post new versions here with a new effective date. Where a change materially affects what is allowed, we will give notice.
